Visitor Contraband Interdiction | December 29 – January 4, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Wakulla Correctional Institution: On December 31, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 15.98 grams of marijuana outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Lawtey Correctional Institution: On January 1, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of firearm ammunition during pat search. The visitation was terminated. The visitor was arrested.

Polk Correctional Institution: On January 1, staff discovered visitors to be in possession of 10 grams of marijuana, 3 unknown white pills, a firearm and 6 rounds of ammunition outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On January 1, staff observed a visitor attempting to pass a package containing 66 grams of fentanyl concealed within a chip bag. The visitation was terminated.

Taylor Correctional Institution: On January 1, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 22 grams of cocaine during pat search. The visitation was terminated.

Apalachee Correctional Institution: On January 2, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 58 grams of marijuana and 2 cell phones during pat search. The visitation was terminated. The visitor was arrested.
