VISITOR CONTRABAND INTERDICTION | January 11– January 17, 2024

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Central Florida Reception Center: On Monday, January 15, visitor Alaysia Bunch was visiting inmate Isaiah Joseph (I32086) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered marijuana residue, and the visitation was terminated.

Sumter Correctional Institution: On Monday, January 15, visitor Chloe Poe was visiting inmate Daryl Burns (U20389) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered 2.4 grams of marijuana, and the visitation was terminated.

Lawtey Correctional Institution: On Monday, January 15, visitor Alyssa Penney was visiting inmate Taylor Silva (C51545) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered marijuana residue, and the visitation was terminated.

 Hamilton Annex: On Sunday, January 14, visitor Shawntavius Holland was visiting inmate Antoine Sirmones (G17089) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. A search was refused, and the visitation was terminated.

 Hamilton Annex: On Sunday, January 14, visitor Scherri Squire was visiting inmate Christopher Mangham (J70751) when staff discovered 59 grams of an unknown substance in the visitor’s possession. The visitor was arrested, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to transport the visitor to jail.

 Dade Correctional Institution: On Sunday, January 14, visitor Kathleen Ruggiero was visiting inmate Theodore MacArthur (123207) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. A search was refused, and the visitation was terminated.

Polk Correctional Institution: On Sunday, January 14, visitor Brian Watkins was visiting inmate Carlous Clark (169917) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered 1.1 grams of marijuana, and the visitation was terminated.

Sumter Correctional Institution: On Saturday, January 13, visitor Sonya Brown was visiting inmate Jovante Jackson (T78858) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. A search was refused, and the visitation was terminated.

Lancaster Correctional Institution: On Saturday, January 13, visitor Joyce Golphin was visiting inmate Leavitis Golphin (312930) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) residue, and the visitation was terminated.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On Saturday, January 13, visitor Michelle Sousa was visiting inmate Feirious Tanner (L84418) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. A search was refused, and the visitation was terminated.
