VISITOR CONTRABAND INTERDICTION | March 7 – March 13, 2024

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Lowell Correctional Institution: On Sunday, March 10, visitor Michael Edsall was visiting Inmate Mary Jean (T91907) when staff discovered 12 cigarettes rolled in saran wrap. The visitation was terminated.

Mayo Correctional Institution: On Sunday, March 10, visitor Alexandria Orrick was visiting Inmate Erich Mueller (H38026) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered marijuana residue, a pistol, and six rounds of ammunition. The visitation was terminated.

Sumter Correctional Institution: On Sunday, March 10, visitor Tia Smith was visiting Inmate James Davis (Q80593) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. A search was refused, and the visitation was terminated.

Polk Correctional Institution: On Saturday, March 9, visitor Danisha Barton was visiting Inmate Willie Gant (T59579) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered marijuana residue, and the visitation was terminated.

Dade Correctional Institution: On Saturday, March 9, visitor Leydylees Alfaro was visiting Inmate Fernando Alfaro (659063) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. A search was refused, and the visitation was terminated.

Dade Correctional Institution: On Saturday, March 9, visitor Daniel Herandez was visiting Inmate Luis Hernandez (432553) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered three THC vape pens and marijuana residue. The visitation was terminated.

Polk Correctional Institution: On Saturday, March 9, visitor Shaamikka Murray was visiting Inmate Rodney Speights (T74245) when a K9 alerted to the visitor’s vehicle. Staff discovered marijuana residue, and the visitation was terminated.
