Visitor Contraband Interdiction | July 13 - 19, 2022

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Hernando Correctional Institution: On July 17, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of synthetic marijuana inside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.

Walton Correctional Institution: On July 17, staff observed a visitor passing a package to an inmate, which he attempted to conceal. The package was recovered from the inmate, which included 40 grams of methamphetamine/cocaine mix. The visitation was terminated and the visitor was arrested for introduction of contraband and possession of narcotics.

Apalachee Correctional Institution: On July 17, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a handgun in their vehicle outside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.

Gulf Correctional Institution: On July 16, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 84.9 grams of methamphetamine and .1 grams of marijuana in their vehicle outside the institution. The visitation was terminated and the visitor was arrested for introduction of contraband and possession of narcotics.

Hamilton Correctional Institution: On July 16, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a handgun, two magazines and 9 rounds of ammunition in their vehicle outside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.

Hamilton Correctional Institution: On July 16, a visitor was issued a citation for recklessly driving while on state grounds. Their visitation was terminated.

Quincy Annex: On July 16, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of marijuana inside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.
