Visitor Contraband Interdiction | July 20 - July 26, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Columbia Annex: On July 22, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of seven rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Columbia Annex: On July 22, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of six rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Liberty Correctional Institution: On July 23, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 95 strips of suboxone outside the institution. The visitation was terminated, and the visitor was arrested.

Liberty Correctional Institution: On July 23, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana and 11 rounds of ammunition outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Desoto Annex: On July 23, staff discovered a visitor attempting to conceal two packages during a pat search. One package contained an undisclosed amount of cocaine, and one package contained an undisclosed amount of tobacco. The visitation was terminated, and the visitor was arrested.

Calhoun Correctional Institution: On July 23, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 10 rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Franklin Correctional Institution: On July 23, staff witnessed a visitor attempting to exchange contraband under the table with an inmate. The packages were found to contain five grams of tobacco and 21 grams of fentanyl. The visitation was terminated, and the visitor was arrested.

Gulf Correctional Institution: On July 23, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 32 grams of marijuana when exiting the institution. Staff notified the duty warden.
