Visitor Contraband Interdiction | July 27 – August 2, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Hardee Workcamp: On July 29, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 69 grams of tobacco during a pat search. The visitation was terminated.

Everglades Correctional Institution: On July 29, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 6 rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On July 29, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 8 rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Hardee Correctional Institution: On July 29, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of five cell phone chargers and six sim cards during a pat search. The visitation was terminated.

Hamilton Annex: On July 29, staff discovered a visitor and an inmate engaging in inappropriate physical contact. The visitation was terminated and the visitor was arrested for lewd and lascivious acts.

Hardee Correctional Institution: On July 30, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a false identification card during the check in process. The visitation was terminated.

Avon Park Correctional Institution: On July 30, staff discovered a visitor and an inmate attempting to conceal inappropriate physical contact. The visitation was terminated.
