Visitor Contraband Interdiction | August 10 – August 16, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Gulf Correctional Institution: On August 12, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 15 rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Central Florida Reception Center: On August 12, staff observed an inmate with $20 that a visitor admitted to giving them. The visitation was terminated.

Desoto Annex: On August 12, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of nine grams of marijuana and a bottle of alcohol outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On August 13, staff discovered a visitor and an inmate engaging in inappropriate physical contact. The visitation was terminated.

Hardee Workcamp: On August 13, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Madison Correctional Institution: On August 13, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.
