Visitor Contraband Interdiction | September 1 - 7, 2022

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Apalachee East: On September 3, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a firearm and six rounds of ammunition outside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.

Apalachee East: On September 3, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 18 Suboxone strips and 2 cell phones outside the institution. Additionally, 31 Suboxone strips and 2 cell phones were discovered during a pat search. The visitation was terminated, and the visitor was arrested for possession of narcotics.

Hamilton Annex: On September 3, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 111.3 grams of cocaine, 38.5 grams of tobacco, 7 prescription pills, 16.9 grams of marijuana, and 2 pills of clonazepam. The visitation was terminated, and the visitor was arrested for possession of narcotics.

Northwest Florida Reception Center: On September 4, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a firearm and five rounds of ammunition outside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On September 4, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 1.8 grams of marijuana, a firearm and ammunition outside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.
