Visitor Contraband Interdiction | September 28 – October 4, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Columbia Correctional Institution: On September 30, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a firearm and eight rounds of ammunition outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Columbia Correctional Institution: On September 30, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 1.5 grams of marijuana outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Columbia Correctional Institution: On September 30, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a firearm and 18 rounds of ammunition outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Polk Correctional Institution: On October 1, staff found a visitor to be in possession of 44 grams of fentanyl and 28 grams of THC wrapped in baby clothes in their baby bag. The visitor was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and charged with the introduction of contraband.
