Visitor Contraband Interdiction | October 05 – October 11, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Gadsden Re-Entry: On October 6, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of one gram of marijuana outside the institution. Staff placed the contraband into evidence and the Duty Warden was notified.

Suwannee Annex: On October 7, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of marijuana and a pack of marijuana rolling papers outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Century Correctional Institution: On October 7, staff observed a visitor drop a package of cocaine on the floor while being searched. The visitation was terminated.

Hamilton Annex: On October 8, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of one gram of marijuana in a rolling paper outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Madison Correctional Institution: On October 8, a bottle of lotion fell out of a visitor's clothing while staff conducted a pat search. The visitation was terminated.

Hamilton Correctional Institution: On October 8, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 35 rounds of ammunition, 12 grams of marijuana and a 15 milligram morphine pill outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Wakulla Annex: On October 8, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of one gram of marijuana in a rolling paper outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Jackson Correctional Institution: On July 23, staff witnessed a visitor attempting to pass a package of an undisclosed amount of narcotics to an inmate. The visitor was arrested by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and charged with the introduction of contraband.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On October 8, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of two and a half grams of marijuana outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Hamilton Correctional Institution: On October 8, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of three and a half grams of marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, 10 rounds of ammunition and a firearm outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.
