VISITOR CONTRABAND INTERDICTION | October 19, 2023 – October 25, 2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Cross City Correctional Institution: On October 21, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of seven grams of THC outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Desoto Annex: On October 21, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 244 grams of a white powdery substance and green leafy substance during the pat search. The visitor was arrested by the Desoto County Sheriff's Office and charged with the introduction of narcotics.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On October 21, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 56 grams of marijuana and 38 grams of tobacco during a pat search. The visitor was arrested by the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office and charged with the introduction of contraband.

Columbia Correctional Institution: On October 22, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of one and a half Suboxone tablets, 11 Suboxone strips, 29.1 grams of THC and 25.2 grams of mushrooms outside the institution. The visitor was arrested by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Jackson Correctional Institution: On October 22, staff observed a visitor admitting to giving an inmate a watch. The visitation was terminated.
